Join us for an evening of evocative poetry with Lauren Camp, the 2025 Pearl S. Buck Writer in Residence. Camp, the current New Mexico Poet Laureate, is the author of eight poetry collections, including her most recent, In Old Sky (Grand Canyon Conservancy, 2024). Her work is a confluence of sound, psychology, and language. This special program is sponsored by the English Department in collaboration with the Maier Museum of Art. FREE and open to the public.

Maier Museum of Art
The Roman Bath at Isthmia in Greece continues to yield surprising archaeological discoveries. Jon Frey, Associate Professor of Classical Studies at Michigan State University, will discuss how excavations from the 1960s through the 1980s and more recent reexaminations of the excavated materials have revealed three structures on this site. Artifacts provide evidence for changes in Roman building practices as Romans from the re-founded colony of Corinth returned to Isthmia with their own unique needs and expectations. 4:30 pm Doors Open | 5 pm Lecture. Free and open to the public. Sponsored by Randolph College's museum and heritage studies program and the Lynchburg Society of the Archaeological Institute of America.

Randolph College presents: Movement Rhizome: Quillian International Symposium on Sri Lanka Curated by Quillian Visiting Scholar Dr. Sudesh Mantillake Randolph College presents "Movement Rhizome: Quillian International Symposium on Sri Lanka," an interdisciplinary event curated by Quillian visiting scholar Dr. Sudesh Mantillake. Inspired by the rhizome concept, this symposium will explore the intersection of dance, performance, film, geography, philosophy, anthropology, architecture, religion, music, literature, rhetoric, decoloniality, and migration. Through performances, mindful movement sessions, roundtable discussions, and film screenings, participants will explore the history, culture, resilience, healing and politics of Sri Lanka and its global relevance. Join Professor Danielle Currier and the students from her Social Research and Qualitative Analysis course for a viewing of the documentary American Beach, the story of a unique Florida seaside community on Amelia Island that provided relaxation, recreation, and rejuvenation for hundreds of thousands of African Americans throughout the South. Inspired by Holsberry’s work and the magic of Valentine’s Day, families are invited to make their own heartfelt art together. With art-making stations designed for ages 5 and up, children and adults alike can create Valentine-themed crafts that celebrate love, adventure, and exploration. Free.
